PODS are multi-week learning experiences for small group or individual use. There are six PODs. One focused on The Nations. Go through this one first. And five that focus on each of the categories of unreached peoples. Go through these in any order. They are summarized as the THUMB (Tribal, Hindu, Unreligious, Muslim and Buddhist). Each POD is divided into five meetings. Each meeting contains the same six segments;
Study; a look at what the Bible has to say about God's heart for the nations. Discussion questions are included.
View; short but powerful videos about unreached peoples. Quotations and discussion questions are included if you are unable to view the videos.
Discuss; a discussion about recommended books. Book excerpts and questions are included.
Learn; read a Global Starting Point.
Respond; resources to explore on your own with the goal of becoming SOGY. Supporting Others by forming a World Team or Going Yourself through The Go List.
Pray; a time of group prayer focused on the topic of the POD.
Here are some important points for those leading a POD.
Prayer time at the end is designed to focus on the topic of the POD. Personal prayer requests should be directed towards small groups. You will not complete the material for each meeting if you spend time praying about personal prayer requests.
Pick ONE item from each of the six sections to discuss at each meeting. There is too much information listed for each meeting to discuss at one time. Participants are encouraged to explore on their own, the material not covered in class.
Test your audio and video connections before the first meeting. We strongly suggest you arrange for the group to view the videos. Depending on the size of your group, they can view them on one large big screen, a laptop or handheld device. However, make sure you have the proper adaptor cables and wiring ahead of time. The videos are worth the effort!
