Read the BOLD PRINT ONLY Teach (Establish, Mature and Challenge).
Rehearse (45 minutes)
Read The One Thing Study in its entirety. Detailed instruction on each week’s tools is essential.
Model what you just read. With the team gathered, show them how to do a One Thing Study. Demonstrate it in front of the team by using one or more people.
Practice what you just modeled. Divide the team into smaller units, and move into breakaway groups. Direct them to practice what you just modeled. One person in the group leads the rest of the group in doing a One Thing Study by asking the group to pick a passage of Scripture, read it silently, and then share the one thing that spoke to them the most. The leader then gives a few moments for silent prayer. Rotate leaders, and repeat the process.
Debrief what you just practiced. Gather back together. Ask for feedback. Then ask one person in the group to teach the rest of the group how to do a One Thing Study without using notes. The rest of the group may assist. Ask another person in the group to teach the group how to have a FORM/FARM conversation without using notes. The rest of the group can assist.
Encourage application. Remind the team that the goal is application of the tools, not just learning the tools. Challenge them to do One Thing Studies this week. Remind them you’ll asking about their progress at the beginning of the next meeting.
